hanifcd | Here's my race report
Here's my race report
Q1
Started 8th, tire pressure was not right so I struggled a bit with twitchy back end. The start was normal, made up one place at first lap, made up 2 places. Got stuck behind Yusnee and he was doing good defending his place, I had a good kart but that time the grip was low to have a good advantage to overtake him so I settled with 5th place rather than doing any over ambitious move.
Q2
Started 1st and finished 1st with a healthy gap
. The tire pressures were sorted out quite nicely to give a nearly perfect kart. The fastest time was 59.58 and I'm very pleased with it. Nothing big incident happened during my race, I just drive my A$@ off the entire race to make a big gap from the start.
Final A
I qualified 3rd overtall. Started well, managed to held off Desmond at first but he took his place back after that. I was down in 4th that time, Zul and Des were fighting for places, dicing places and most importantly not aware of me at the back. I knew that I was a few tenths faster than the two so I waited Des to make a move on Zul and I took a oppurtunist move to snatch the 3rd from Zul. Can't manage to get Des in time though. I was really close behind him all through the race after that, tail-gating more like it. I wanted to make a move but decided to settle in 3rd as laps were running out and not much of track left to make an overtaking move.
All and all, it's a good weekend for me. No incidents, problems and finished in top 3. Would like to know my race from others point of view too

Q1: A fantastic battle between Isk, Naza and myself for 3rd place. I think Naza got bogged down coming out of the last hairpin in the closing laps. I didn't have anywhere to go apart from the grass and couldn't stop the spin. Kart stalled and took a while to re-start. Not so good but at least I finished ahead of Mark. It's very difficult to find a clean way to pass Isk.
...Indeed bro, press the throttle but the rpm did'nt rise and caused you overtime on the grass and lost hard fought positions! ...apologies.
No apology needed. No hard feelings.

jules - thanks for the post. as for my-kart's safety standard slipping over the past 2 years: if that is the case (perception or otherwise), then we shall do something about this.
as for me, no excuses. we discussed this incident and shall make attempts to move the start finish line to another location instead of being at the 1st corner of the CW direction.

Q2: The whole race was a close battle with Isk, Brian and Zainy. Result not so good but it was fun.
Final: A nudge spun me just before the long start/finish straight and the kart stalled. Once I had caught up the race was over.
Luck was not on my side this round.
All the karts seemed to be closely matched this round, seemed only 5-10 seconds covering the pack at the finish.
RawFlesh | On this matter of
On this matter of safety..... I've heard stories(one from a newbie this year and another from a buaya, so should be true
) that there's bumping on the tracks to move a competitor off the track(no need to name names, i believe some may know). I cannot confirm as I've never seen it on track nor being discussed here.
If it has, i'm sorry for bringing this up again. If it hasn't, please let us know what has been done to reduce such incidents.
I agree with Jules on suspending drivers that race dangerously. I dont care about the damage deposits, my life is worth alot more than that. Thanks Jules for bringing up the matter.

First of all, congrats to winner.
Second - I cannot help but noted that in Mark and Jason's reply, there was talk about a major accident, since Mark said his kart was in pieces and Jason's account of a POST FINISHING LINE accident.
Now, those who know me WELL will know I am stickler to safety and those who dun, then please learn a thing or two before responding here.
Okay, I am refering to Jason's Q2 incident details and whilst I must confess I dun know who is Faiz - I do hope he is not a 2009 newbie to K1 & not driving under a red mist. I say this as he was overtaken on last lap, at last corner and since this is CW direction - its the 2nd hairpin, coming onto the gentle right and start/finish line.
The fact is, in MyKart racing - the start finish line is the DECIDING LINE. As far as I know, Mykart uses MANUAL human recorders who stand at the start finish line. There are 2 timing loop on the circuit and the one closest the building is likely operational but used as BACKUP system - again as far as I know. But the human recorders' results is the official result.
Now, having explained the manner how positions are recorded, please hence help me understand how an accident can happen AFTER the finishing line.
The manner how this happenned, mean Faiz either missed the flag in his red midst or fell asleep and did not brake or had a brake failure ( tho unlikely as its race over mode )
Btw, we are talking of Q2 and not a final race!
Sorry, I dun mince my words and some of you will not like me reminding again on safety ( ie. Ajak ). Let me tell you that some years back in quite an identical manner, at the same corner - a friend used me as his brake, mounted my kart on the rear right, hit my helmet with his front left wheel, landed on me and pushed me onto my seat and BROKE my 2 ribs. It was a 100cc engine, so no radiator to break but he went turtle and wrote off his rental kart.
The mechanical damage aside, I strongly urge if we caution or even suspend drivers IMMEDIATELY FROM DRIVING FOR THE REST OF DAY or even future races ( ie, McLaren ) who has caused such nasty accidents. This rule will apply to newbies, seniors etc - all the same. Uncle Naza, you are the caretaker of the K1 series, so I urge you do this. Confer with your seniors, those involved for a decision on the spot - that's my suggestion. Only when drivers knows they can be suspended for dangerous driving, then will people drive more sanely and within their limits.
In general - we should also do an online post mortem of ALL race incidents where injury and major damage was inflicted. To miss the next race due to mechanical damage qualifies this incident to be given an online post mortem. If not for Mark and Jason's very brief account here - we wun be wiser. MyKart used to be very safety conscious - and I must say the standard has indeed slipped especially in the last 2 years.
Fazlur, please get a check on this despite I am well aware you are a busy person.
Also, will Faiz please give your side of story as well? At least then 2 sides are telling to all for a delibration later.
jckl | Q1 Started at 3rd place of
Q1
Started at 3rd place of the grid on the inside, maintained the position after Turn 1 without incident but was overtaken by Yusnee 2 corners later. Managed to close the gap after 3 laps and took him at Turn 2 by late braking on the inside line but left too much space for him to regain the position. Did the same move at the same corner again a lap later & with more defensive line this time. Managed to hold on until finish line.
Q2
Started at 5th place of the grid on the outside and was worried about 1st corner incident so stayed well clear of everyone (no balls, hehe)hence ended up last after the 3rd corner. Spent quite a few laps behind Luen, who was marvelous in defending his position. Only managed to overtake him after about 4-5 laps.Caught up with Faiz on the last lap and overtook him at the last corner before the starting straight and crossed the finish line. Immediately after crossing the line I felt a jolt at the back and when I turned my head, I saw a kart over me, then BANG and the kart halted. I stayed in kart for a short while just to re-compose myself. When I looked at the ride hand side of the kart, I saw a few things dislocated including the radiator (ouch!) and I was counting my lucky stars that the kart didn't land on me. Phew! (Saw a tyre mark on my helmet when I reached home though!)
FINAL B
DNS as the rules said that if the driver was involved in an accident (irrespective of whose fault), and his kart is not repaired in time, he's not allowed to use any spare karts that's available. So no valuable point for me this round. ( I did apologise to Mark after the incident for ruining his kart no 10, in which he had driven brilliantly in Q2 to finish 1st)
timmsm | Q1 Started at the back of
Q1
from the hairpin to the pits!
Started at the back of the grid and was battling to pass Zainy who’s lines were tighter than a young virgins $@%$. Tried desperately to pass him and we exchanged a few knocks here and there (safe ones though). Then all of a sudden my ignition cable fell out and I was fumbling to fix the cable back on and ended up waiting for the mechanic to help. Rejoined the race and let Desmond who was leading have a clear pass and just enjoyed the rest of the race to the flag finishing in last position… as we were making our way back to the pits the cable came off again and I had to DO THE WALK OF SHAME
Q2
Started at the front of the grid and had a great start ahead of Zainy into turn 1. Managed to break away from the pack and started getting a bit cocky towards the last few laps making various gestures to the lap takers… Realising this ego driven attitude would probably be my failing and end up in tears, as Zool had now passed Zainy and was closing in on me, I had to remain focussed and luckily I finished in first place…. BUT as I crossed the chequered flag my engine stalled! Thank goodness it happened then and not a few seconds earlier.
FINAL A
Took Kart #7 due to my assigned kart being in multiple pieces after a post race mishap between Faiz and Jason. Started at the back of the grid and managed to pass 3 drivers at Turn 4 after Yusnee and Isk started making out on the track (their karts were tightly embraced). This led into a battle between Ramsey and myself where we swapped positions once or twice but I managed to hold the pace and started to break away. Then out of nowhere Yusnee reappeared and was hot in pursuit and despite my best efforts to keep all the doors closed he passed me a few laps from the end of the race and I finished in 6th place.
My main objective was just to collect some more points for extra security and comfort for the first opportunity that I could verbally abuse Azlan about his lack of points for this year!

Q1, i was put in group B, started front row along side mr ramsey. I think both ramsey and i was caught napping by the green flag. Managed to hold my line through turn 1,2 and 3 and pulled a healthy gap from the main pack. From there onwards was pretty straight forward though i felt 2nd place driver getting closer before taking it home.
Q2, Started last obviously and felt worried if wont get it into final A. Right after the flag off the left row was held back, and i found k2 driver Aaron infront of me, hahaha, injected some urgency in my driving and overtook couple of guys including luen and fazz while they were rumbling it out. Got myself behind ramsey and yusness and hanif was at the far end of my sight, for couple of laps i followed ramsey and yusnee and they play it out till ramsey went off the track as result of racing contact. gain a spot and finshed 3rd.
Final A
great stuff i qualified highest and starting on P1. The flag off was again cheeky but i managed to hold my line as usual through turn 1,2 and 3 . From there i created a gap from the main bunch and able to maintain till the end with the aroma of desmond and hanif inching closer...gigigigig.
